You Anet sycophants really need to just stop it w/the idiot logic. To blindly defend this mess that's happened is not reflecting well upon yourselves. The way that this quest chain has been mismanaged and mangled over, as of this post, 11 days after the halloween event has already concluded, to me is unprecedented, considering the fact that this is a one time only quest.
I'm a big believer in paying attention to trends. If you pay close enough attention, you usually can predict what will happen based on prior observations. Over the course of gw history, the trends with holiday/event quests and rewards have been that the opportunity to cash in concludes when the event is done and the npc's and decorations have been removed, where you can no longer trade items for goodies, etc. These dates are usually predetermined, so that you can schedule your personal agenda around the event itinerary, if you so choose.
There have been a few exceptions to this. One example was when the canthan hat trader guy would stick around for a week after the event, so you could still trade the collectible items in and collect the hat. When that underwater communications line broke (I think due to an earthquake/tsunami) and resulted in cutting part of the world off from an event, they did the dragon festival redux ('07). And I vaguely remember this one, but the wiki mentioned that there was a halloween redux in '08 as well.
Regardless, in the past Anet has done a fairly decent job trying to give the playerbase an opportunity to participate in those events. They went out of their way to make things right w/the community (with respect to the holiday events at least) and that was commendable and appreciated. Why they'd dick around now and flop and twitch with this one kindof leaves me wondering wtf is going on over there.
This is uncharted waters now, with this steward foolishness. To deliberately hose people out of a one time only quest chain because there is some sloppy shit going on in the background at Anet hq, that signifies a new point of interest for the trend followers. They used to have a fairly decent track record with holiday events, now it is apparent that the care with which they used to handle these events has slipped significantly. I guess that makes sense if you are of the opinion that lately Anet has been sloppy in general when attempting to integrate things on their punchlist into the game, with respect to delays and other unexpected screwups or other not-well-thought out updates (e.g. heroes banished from the gh).
The irritated people here aren't so much qq'ing as they are throwing the bullshit flag. There's been a bad call and it needs to be reviewed/overturned. Anet can fix it, they just have to want to fix it.
Defending this mess unfolding in the manner that it has been as the way it was originally intended, or suggesting that ANet is handling this well... puhleeeze. You sound like a bunch of assholes. Put down your kool-aid, and let the big people talk, at least the ones who have the ability to form objective opinons and make decisions based on rational logic.
